Cashier / POS Till

Finance & POS

What it does

The Cashier is the dedicated front-desk till. Staff open a shift at the start of the day, ring up anything the gym sells — memberships, add-ons, retail products, and walk-in day passes — all in one mixed cart, and take payment across multiple tenders on a single sale. You can register a walk-in member on the spot, print a receipt with your logo and a ZATCA tax QR, and close the shift at the end with a counted, blind cash-up so the drawer is always reconciled.

Key concepts

  • Shift — a till session opened by one cashier with a starting cash float. Every sale during the session is tied to it; closing the shift reconciles the drawer.
  • Mixed cart — a single sale that can hold different item types together: a membership, an add-on, a retail product, and a day pass all on one ticket.
  • Day pass — a single-visit charge for a walk-in who isn't a member.
  • Multiple tenders — one sale paid with more than one method (e.g. part cash, part card, or member wallet, or BNPL); the split must add up to the total.
  • Blind cash-up — at close, you count the drawer without seeing the expected total. Memvera compares your count to what it expected and records the variance.
  • Receipt — a printed simplified tax invoice with your logo and a ZATCA QR.

Main tasks

Open a shift

  1. Open the Cashier app and choose Open shift.
  2. Count the cash already in the drawer and enter it as the opening float.
  3. Confirm. The till is now live and ready to take sales.

Ring up a sale (mixed cart + split tender)

  1. Add items to the cart — search a membership or add-on, scan or pick a retail product, or add a day pass.
  2. Attach a member if relevant (sales can be linked to a member account).
  3. Choose Pay, then add one or more tenders — cash, card, member wallet, or BNPL — until the split covers the total.
  4. Confirm payment and print or send the receipt.

Register a walk-in

  1. In the cart, choose New walk-in (or add a day pass and create the person).
  2. Enter the minimum details — name and contact.
  3. Save; the walk-in is created and the sale continues as normal.

Close the shift (blind cash-up)

  1. Choose Close shift.
  2. Count the drawer and enter the actual cash totals — you won't see the expected figure.
  3. Confirm. Memvera records the variance (over/short) and the shift is closed for handover.

Tips

TIP

Always count the float when you open and the drawer when you close. The blind cash-up only catches discrepancies if the opening count was accurate.

INFO

A single sale can take several tenders — let a member pay part on wallet and the rest on card, for example. The sale won't complete until the tenders add up to the full amount.
