Workouts & Content

Member Experience

What it does

The Workouts module turns Memvera into a full training experience — the content members follow, the daily workout they score, and the leaderboards they compete on. It has two halves that fit together.

The content hub is the library members browse in the app: exercise demos and workout videos, curated by the gym. You connect one or more content providers (licensed catalogues like WorkoutX or SugarWOD), sync their content, and pick the pieces you want into your own groups (e.g. "CrossFit Basics", "Beginner Month"). Members only ever see your curated library, organised by your groups — the provider is invisible, so it feels like your gym's own content.

On top of that sits the participation layer, which is entirely Memvera's: the Workout of the Day (WOD) members score, the leaderboards that rank those scores, the benchmarks (Fran, Grace, Murph…) they chase personal records on, and granular set logging (reps, weight, RPE). Every bit of activity quietly feeds the gym's challenges and loyalty points, so training earns rewards automatically.

Key concepts

  • Provider — a content catalogue you license and connect (e.g. WorkoutX exercise GIFs, SugarWOD movement videos). You paste an API key; Memvera syncs the content. Providers supply content only — no member data ever leaves to them.
  • Hub — the brand's curated library. Synced content starts as "source material"; nothing reaches members until you pick it.
  • Group — a named section of the hub ("Chest Day", "CrossFit Basics"). A group is the only door into the member library — items become member-visible by being added to a group, and groups can mix content from different providers.
  • WOD (Workout of the Day) — a programmed workout for a date, with a scoring type that decides how the leaderboard ranks it: for time (fastest wins), AMRAP (most rounds+reps), max load, or max reps.
  • Score — a member's result on a WOD, logged Rx (as prescribed) or scaled. One score per member per WOD; improving it updates in place.
  • Leaderboard — the ranking of scores for a WOD or benchmark. Rx ranks above scaled, and boards are gender-segregated by default.
  • Benchmark — a repeatable named workout (Fran, Grace, Murph…). Members log attempts over time; their best is a personal record (PR), which also lands in their fitness profile.
  • Set log — granular per-exercise logging: sets, reps, weight, and RPE, with a heaviest-set PR per exercise.

Main tasks

Connect a content provider

  1. Go to Content Center → Providers.
  2. Pick a provider and paste its API key, then Test the connection and Sync.
  3. The synced content lands as source material — visible to staff, not yet to members.

Curate the library into groups

  1. Open Content Center → Groups and create a group (e.g. "CrossFit Basics"), with an Arabic name.
  2. In the Library tab, preview any item (the video or GIF plays inline) and Add to hub — choosing which group(s) it belongs to.
  3. Members now see that group as a section in the app, blending content from any provider under your gym's name.

Program a Workout of the Day

  1. Go to Content Center → WODs and create a WOD for a date: title, the whiteboard (the workout itself), and its scoring type.
  2. Publish it. Members see it as "today's workout" and can log their score.
  3. Open the leaderboard any time — filter by Rx/scaled and by gender.

Set up benchmarks

  1. Go to Content Center → Benchmarks and press Seed standard set to load the classics (Fran, Grace, Helen, Murph, 1-rep-max lifts…), or add your own.
  2. Members log attempts; each new PR is tracked and mirrored into their personal records.

The member experience

In the app, a member can:

  • Browse the gym's hub, organised by your groups, and play any demo (videos stream; exercise GIFs animate inline).
  • Favorite items and mark workouts complete — which logs the session to their fitness history.
  • See today's WOD, log a score, and watch their rank on the leaderboard climb.
  • Chase benchmarks and beat their PRs, and log sets (reps/weight/RPE) exercise by exercise.
  • Earn loyalty points and complete challenges automatically — e.g. a "score 8 WODs this month" challenge pays out the moment they hit it.

Content stays yours, participation stays private

Providers supply catalogue content only — no member scores, participation, or personal data are ever sent to them. Leaderboards, PRs, and streaks are computed entirely inside Memvera, so the competition and the branding are your gym's.

Gamification is automatic

Once the loyalty programme is switched on, workout activity earns points and feeds challenges with no extra setup. See Loyalty & Rewards.
